Ag Explorers brings youth ages 4-8 years old and their family on-farm, hands-on to grow food,
learn farm and life skills, and explore creativity.
Each session, March through November,
introduces a unique focus, incorporates seasonal farm experiences, and promotes fun!
The morning is split into three segments with time for free exploration and movement,
chicken care, seasonal farm and field tasks, and themed creative projects.
The Ag Explorer’s adult is encouraged to get actively engaged while providing opportunity for independence to grow.
Wearing closed-toe shoes is required for everyone on the farm.
A month-long session (4 weeks) of Ag Explorers is held on Saturdays from 9 am - 11 am
and has a suggested price of $50 per family (this covers any children in the family participating plus their parents/adult guardians), or you may pay what you’re able upon registration below.
Reach out to Ashley at ashley@kcfarmschool.org with questions or to discuss an alternative way to pay.

Ag Explorers Sessions Overview
March : Let's Get Growing!
March 7, 14, 21, 28
Explore our greenhouse and learn how a seed germinates and grows. Ag Explorers will create a weekly art project that encourages awareness, experimentation, and patience while building confidence. Ag Explorers will plant, nurture, and take home their own gardens.
April : Things That Fly!
April 4, 11, 18, 25
Let's learn about all the amazing animals flying across our farm. From birds to bees, winged animals pollinate the flowers and are part of a healthy ecosystem.
May : Water, Earth and Air
May 2, 9, 16, 23
Soil is the building block of everything we grow. Join us to learn how we make soil through compost and how we keep it from washing and blowing away with our perennial crops and native plant beds. We will make art with found materials on the farm and print native plants from our native gardens. Ag Explorers will get to take home their very own seeds to start their own native butterfly garden.
June : Flowers, Fruits, Roots and Shoots
June 6, 13, 20, 27
Explore the parts of the plant and their functions. Search the farm to find different plants and identify their parts. Work together to write, sing, dance and create art about plants. Gather fruits, roots, flowers and shoots to make a yummy treat!
July : The Wonders of Water
July 4, 11, 18, 25
Let's explore how water moves across the land and is stored in the ground. We will build our own city out of salvaged material and see how the water moves through it. We will also investigate how native plants hold the soil and water while we experiment with the wonders of water!
August : Play with your Food
August 1, 8, 15, 22
Join in the harvest and prepare delicious food straight from the field! We will learn about food traditions from around the country and around the world while we explore the basic building blocks of salt, fat, acid, and heat that make food delicious.
September : Fall Festivals and Culture
September 5, 12, 19, 26
We’ll explore the different and special ways that people celebrate the fall harvest around the world. It is also a time to put food away for the winter, so we’ll try out some of the ways that we can save our favorite things from the farm for the colder months.
October: Save your Snacks!
October 3, 10, 17, 24
Together, we’ll explore food preservation methods used by our Indigenous ancestors, modern practices, and more as we learn how to save food to last through the Winter and into the Spring.
November: Putting the Farm to Bed
October 31, November 7, 14, 21
Every season has a beginning, middle, and end, and November finds us beginning to put the farm to bed for winter. Join us on-farm to wrap up the season so we can all rest and regenerate over winter.
