Volunteer On-Farm, Hands-On
Bringing the community on-farm, hands-on is our mission.
Growing and teaching how to grow food, and then sharing it is what we do.
Our work is fueled by volunteers just like you!
If you want to join us in our work, we have the following volunteer opportunities available:
Individual Volunteering Group Volunteering

We welcome volunteers who want to get hands- on with physical tasks such as:
pulling weeds
mulching paths
seeding and transplanting
space beautification
preparing growing spaces
bush honeysuckle removal
caring for crops and natives

If you don’t see opportunities that work for your schedule, please email volunteer@kcfarmschool.org with a description of your needs and and our volunteer coordinator will follow up with you.

Our event volunteers help us make our plant sales, market, and community events successful.
Event volunteers may be asked to
greet and assist visitors
prepare food or wash dishes
direct traffic
make plant labels or other pre-event activities
assist with arts and crafts or educational activity booths
beautify and prepare the farm to welcome visitors
assist with set-up and take down the day of an event
help vendors load and unload vehicles

We have ongoing opportunities for folks with a diversity of skillsets to get involved on the farm.
These opportunities are not scheduled through our website; folks sharing their skills with us typically volunteer independently and on a schedule that works for them.
Additional volunteering opportunities with KCFS include but are not limited to:
Funding/Org Development
Admin/ Tech work
Caring for our book and tool lending libraries
Skilled labor: carpentry, plumbing, tool maintenance etc
Hosting an education booth at our farmer’s market
Joining a committee

Bring your classmates, religious community, coworkers, corporate group, team, professional organization etc on-farm hands on!
Our volunteer visits offer opportunities for agricultural education through joining us hand-on in some farm work.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome; we ask that youth under 13 be chaperoned while volunteering on-farm.

If you or members of your group are in need of accommodations in order to make volunteering on-farm more accessible, please send an email to volunteer@kcfarmschool.org with a description of your needs and our volunteer coordinator will follow up with you.
FIRST TIME VOLUNTEERING WITH US?
Please review our volunteer handbook and complete our liability waiver prior to your visit.
For individuals under 18, this waiver should be completed by a parent or guardian.
VOLUNTEERING FAQ
We welcome people of all ages, ancestries, and abilities to join-us on farm-hands on; no experience necessary!
All materials, tools, and training necessary to perform volunteering tasks are provided by KC Farm School.
We ask that volunteers under the age of 13 be chaperoned while on farm; youth 13 and up may volunteer independently as long as they have a liability waiver on file with us signed by a parent or guardian.
We welcome folx needing community service hours to volunteer with us.
