KC F.A.R.M.E.R.S. Coalition: Fruit Tree Pruning Work & Learn

  • The Garden at Dogwood Forest 4141 Joyce Drive Kansas City, KS, 66104 United States (map)

They say "The worst pruning mistake is not to prune.”

Pruning fruit trees is essential for to create adequate light and airflow so fruits can ripen while minimizing disease. In this hand-on, work-and-learn event participants will learn the basic techniques of fruit tree pruning on different cultivars and trees ages, and will be given plenty of opportunities to cut.

We’ll also demonstrate pruning blueberries, blackberries and elderberries. Tools of the trade will be discussed as well as other resources and opportunities to learn these skills. We're grateful to have Kay Thomason lead instruction with our host and land steward, Rick Mareske.

This event will be held outside at The Garden at Dogwood Forest, located at 4141 Joyce Drive, Kansas City, Kansas, 66104. Please dress in warm work clothes, wear closed toe shoes and gloves. We will reschedule in the event of inclement weather.

This event is free, but registration is required. Warm beverages will be provided, but please be sure to eat before you come and bring your own snacks and water.
