Plant peas, potatoes and parsley towards the end of the month directly in the garden.
Prune your fruit trees and berry bushes before spring growth begins.
Direct sow native flower seeds outdoors so they get a few weeks of cold temps which will support their germination.
Start tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant and any other cool season vegetables indoors.
Turn your compost pile. Avoid working your garden soil too much! When it is still cold and wet it can creates compacted soil.
Start your garden notebook with dates, seeds, plans.
Think about the birds! Create habitat.
Towards the end of March, remove winter protection from any perennials you had in place, and pull back mulch from strawberry and asparagus beds so they can push through easily. Side-dress you asparagus with a gentle, natural, nitrogen fertilizer.
