Consider starting the process of hardening off cool season plants you started from seed. Select smaller rather than larger plants to harden off so they don’t bolt early! To harden off plants, let them spend some time outside each day for a few weeks- gradually increasing their outdoor exposure so they’re ready to plant.
Direct sow carrots, chard, collards, peas, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, onions, herbs radishes and spinach as soil and temp permit.
Sow seeds of hardy native flowers like calendula, poppy and sweet pea.
“Hill up” your potatoes if you see leaves! Just mound some compost, leaves and soil on top of them in a mound.
Keep working on your seasonal garden plan.
Fertilize berry bushes before growth resumes.
Start your warm season crop seeds indoors.
Establish new plantings of fruit trees, berry bushes, asparagus, and rhubarb.
Add organic matter to your soil to improve fertility.
