Community Soil Science Cooperative
A collaboration between Sankara Farm, Antioch Urban Growers, Tracy Garden, and KC Farm School
Building on traditional, indigenous, ecological knowledge to increase soil health, plant vitality, and nutrient density using Johnson-Su bioreactor composting systems and funded through a USDA Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) grant, Community Soil Science Cooperative is building Johnson-Su bioreactors across the metro and we are measuring germination rate, vegetative growth rate, nutrient density, and yield of plants exposed to the J-Su compost against those that are not.
We have recently formed a partnership with The Land Institute to bring their perennial wheatgrass, Kernza, to Kansas City growers.
