Agroforestry Work-And-Learn

Agroforestry Work-And-Learn

$0.00

Are you interested in gaining both profit and joy from your forest land? Discover the potential of agroforestry at our hands-on work-and-learn event hosted at The Garden at Dogwood Forest. Learn about the history of this land, forest ecology, and how people can incorporate silvopasturing, alley cropping, and forest farming into their agricultural practices. You’ll gain practical skills and learn about funding opportunities to start or expand your forest farm.

After a morning of knowledge sharing with local experts, roll up your sleeves and help prepare the planting site, build deer barriers, transplant rootlets, and inoculate edible mycorrhizae in a well-established orchard.

This is a partnership event hosted in collaboration by KC F.A.R.M.E.R.S. Coalition, Kansas City Black Urban Growers, KC Farm School, Miami County Conservation District, the USDA’s National Resource Conservation Service, Lincoln University Cooperative Research, and their new Midwest Forest Farming Coalition.

This event will be held outside at The Garden at Dogwood Forest. In the event of inclement weather, we will communicate a rescheduled date or cancellation. Please be sure to dress appropriately for changing weather, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring your own bug spray and water bottle. A light lunch will be provided.

If you have additional questions about the event or need accessibility accommodations, please email ashley@kcfarmschool.org.
